Softball Recap: Polytech Takes Down Ranked Red Lion Christian Academy

Polytech faced Red Lion Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jaelyn Wood looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Danica Humphries was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Kaelynn Vogan was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Polytech hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matches.

Polytech has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Red Lion Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polytech will challenge Delmarva Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Red Lion Christian Academy, they will square off against Smyrna at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
