Shannon is on a seven-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Thrasher a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Shannon Red Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Thrasher Rebels at 4:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Shannon didn't have quite enough to beat Vardaman and fell 5-4.
Hayden Armstrong was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season.
Thrasher not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14, 2025 (when they won 15-4). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Tremont. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Ryan Tate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samuel Hughes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Bryton Roberts, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
Shannon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Thrasher, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Shannon got the 'W' when the teams last played back in February of 2025 against Thrasher by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
