League recap: Houston County scores huge upset over Clarksville Academy

A District 10 recap Oct. 9, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Houston County, who took down 168th ranked Clarksville Academy, 28-20. Josh Tharp threw for 204 yards and one touchdown and ran for 24 yards in the win.

Nashville Christian extended the longest winning streak in A District 10 this week by beating East Robertson, 49-31. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Eagles.

Ryan Young and Phillip Booker gave Nashville Christian a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Young threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns, while Booker ran for 117 yards. Young also contributed to the rushing game with 105 yards on the ground.

Hunter Moran was the best wideout in the league this week as the Fighting Irish beat the Cougars. Moran racked up four receptions for 151 yards. Frankie Ramirez helped Houston County's passing attack out by catching two balls for 43 yards.

Clarksville Academy's Jacob Rugen and Clay Goad have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Rugen has thrown for 949 yards this season, while Goad has 25 catches for 587 yards. Houston County's Moran leads the league in rushing yards with 845.

A big matchup in A District 10 this week will be when Tood Hood's team takes on Jo Byrns. The Cougars are currently in second, while the Red Devils are in fourth.

White House-Heritage took down McEwen 27-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
