Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Newman AAA

Newman AAA strolled into their game on Sunday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 76-72 W against Varsity Opponent. The 76-point effort marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Newman AAA's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Louis O'Keefe led the charge by going 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points along with eight assists and seven boards. O'Keefe has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Geremiah, who shot 40% from the field on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Newman AAA smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Newman AAA's victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Coming up, Varsity Opponent won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Villa Rica at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Newman AAA will be paying especially close attention to Varsity Opponent's matchup: after Varsity Opponent face off against LaProgresiva Presbyterian, they'll take on Newman AAA again at 6:00 p.m. on December 3.
