Recap: Kopperl Eagles vs. Morgan Eagles
The Kopperl Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 55-24 loss at the hands of Morgan. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kopperl has scored all season.
Morgan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 24 rebounds. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Mark Anthony Garcia was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Kopperl has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Morgan, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.
Kopperl will look to defend their home court on Friday against Walnut Springs at 7:15 p.m. Walnut Springs and Kopperl are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Morgan, they will head out on the road to square off against Meridian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meridian is on a three-game streak of home wins, Morgan a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
