Baseball Game Preview: West Morris Central Wolfpack vs. Chatham Cougars

The West Morris Central Wolfpack will take on the Chatham Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. West Morris Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Chatham's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

West Morris Central came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of West Morris Mendham by a score of 6-4 on Monday. Wolfpack fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Minutemen since on Monday.

Nick Rotundo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Jack Gumersell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Vinny Santorelli also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Chatham came up short against West Essex on Wednesday and fell 9-6. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chatham's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for West Morris Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.

West Morris Central was able to grind out a solid win over Chatham in their previous matchup back in April, winning 10-6. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
