Basketball Game Preview: Channel Islands Raiders vs. Santa Paula Cardinals

The Channel Islands Raiders will square off against the Santa Paula Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Santa Paula will be up against a hot Channel Islands team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Channel Islands blew past Nordhoff 60-36 on Friday. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while the Rangers are ranked 1144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Santa Paula narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Foothill Tech 63-61.

Channel Islands' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Santa Paula, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.

Everything came up roses for Channel Islands against Santa Paula in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured an 81-45 victory. Will Channel Islands repeat their success, or does Santa Paula have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
