Preview: Lexington Minutemen vs. Tremont Turks
The Lexington Minutemen will take on the Tremont Turks at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Tremont took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lexington, who comes in off a win.
Lexington stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Fisher on the road to the tune of 68-37. Given Lexington's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Fisher is ranked 604th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ethan Storm, who scored 19 points along with six steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Griffen Hari, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Tremont lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They suffered a rough 60-39 loss at the hands of El Paso-Gridley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Tremont has scored all season.
Lexington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Tremont, they bumped their record down to 13-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Lexington skirted past Tremont 55-52 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lexington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
