Basketball Game Preview: Shadow Creek Sharks vs. Dawson Eagles

Shadow Creek easily dispatched Alvin last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Shadow Creek fell just short of Manvel by a score of 61-58 on Friday. The Sharks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Dawson against Pasadena Memorial on Friday as the team secured an 81-28 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Shadow Creek better keep an eye on Journey Lovett. She was instrumental in Dawson's win, going 12 of 19 on her way to 31 points and eight steals. Lovett's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kendall Ford, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.

Dawson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Dawson is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Shadow Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 21-9.

Things could have been worse for Shadow Creek, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-54 loss to Dawson in their previous matchup back in December of 2024.
