Volleyball Recap: Westlake Gets the Win

Westlake was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Normandy Invaders. The victory continues a trend for the Demons in their matchups with the Invaders: they've now won seven in a row.

Westlake had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 13-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-9.

Leah Navratil paced Westlake's offense, picking up 15 kills. Navratil got some help from Ella Stanton and her 22 assists. Navratil also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Norah Madden, racking up four apiece.

Westlake's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Normandy, they dropped their record down to 6-9 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Westlake will take on Valley Forge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Normandy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Riverside on the 20th.
