Sacred Heart Academy faced Amity Regional in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Sharks fell 3-1 to the Spartans. The loss was the Sharks' first of the season.

Sacred Heart Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.

Maddy Burke paced Sacred Heart Academy's offense, picking up 18 kills. Burke got some help from Bella Spinato and her 39 assists. Spinato was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Julia Capecelatro was a one-woman wrecking crew For Amity Regional. as she had 16 digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Capecelatro a new career-high in assists (47). Another player making a difference was Lily Simons, who had 22 digs and three aces.
