Basketball Recap: Ocean View Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West, Ocean View was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They snuck past the Katella Knights with a 53-49 win. This was a revenge game for the Seahawks: when they faced off against the Knights on January 3rd, they had to take a 62-40 defeat.

Ocean View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi Jefferson, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Those five assists gave Jefferson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Covarrubias, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points along with six assists and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Katella lost, don't look at Jace Aikins. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joseph Damian, who posted 12 points.

Ocean View's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-19. As for Katella, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.

Ocean View will welcome Kennedy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something Ocean View surely won't give up without a fight. As for Katella, they will take on Garden Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Garden Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.
