St. Joseph barely beat Sacred Heart the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The St. Joseph Flyers blew past the Sacred Heart Indians 8-2 on Thursday. Considering the Flyers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexia Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Grimsinger, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Arianny Handy also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

St. Joseph pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Sacred Heart, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will take on St. Anthony at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph is facing St. Anthony at the right time seeing as St. Anthony is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Sacred Heart, they will face off against Van Vleck at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Van Vleck is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
