Recap: Chillicothe Hornets vs. Smithville Warriors
The Chillicothe Hornets waltzed into their game on Monday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They secured a 41-36 W over Smithville. That's another feather in the cap for Chillicothe, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Chillicothe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayanna Cranmer led the charge by scoring 15 points. Another player making a difference was Liz Oliver, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Chillicothe's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Smithville, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chillicothe will take on the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Smithville, they will head out on the road to square off against the Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winnetonka will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Warriors are ranked 17th).
