Baseball Recap: Smith Vo-Tech Find Success

Smith Vo-Tech proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the St. Mary Saints 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kaleb Jorritsma made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Jorritsma was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Brothers, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Smith Vo-Tech's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Mary, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Coming up, Smith Vo-Tech will look to defend their home field on Monday against Northampton at 5:00 p.m. St. Mary does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
