Basketball Recap: Sutherlin Takes a Loss

If Sutherlin was feeling good fresh off their 50-13 takedown of Siuslaw last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sutherlin Bulldogs took a 44-28 bruising from the Cascade Christian Challengers on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Challengers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-31 back in January.

Sutherlin's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Cascade Christian, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.

Sutherlin and Cascade Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. Sutherlin (ranked 69th) will meet South Umpqua (ranked 217th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sutherlin's defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so Cascade Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Cascade Christian will face off against St. Mary's at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 164 places (27 vs. 191). Sutherlin will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
