Football Recap: Cibola Gets the Win

Cibola proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 49) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 7-6 win over the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 159th in Arizona, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 777th in California) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Xavier Rodriguez threw for 33 yards on four of seven attempts. On the ground, Marques Montague rushed for 75 yards and one TD.

Despite the loss, Palo Verde Valley still got an impressive performance from Darrius Scott, who rushed for 75 yards and one score on only six carries.

Cibola's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Palo Verde Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cibola will square off against Estrella Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Palo Verde Valley, they will challenge Vincent Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Yellow Jackets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
