Softball Recap: Byron Tigers vs. Lutheran Crusaders

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rock Falls, Byron was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Lutheran Crusaders. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Hadley Dolan made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Dolan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Those hits were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Byron got a massive performance out of Larkin Knoll, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Knoll a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Degand, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs.

Byron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Byron will square off against Genoa-Kingston at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lutheran, they will challenge Rockford East at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
