Softball Recap: Rockbridge County Comes Up Short

Rockbridge County fell victim to Wilson Memorial and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Sadie Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Rockbridge County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Page Wright, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Rockbridge County's record now sits at 8-7. As for Wilson Memorial, they moved to 8-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Rockbridge County will head out to challenge Riverheads at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wilson Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alleghany at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mountaineers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
