Recap: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Buena Vista Bison
In what's become a running theme this season, the Lincoln Northeast Rockets gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They really took it to Buena Vista for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-25 victory on the road. While fans of Lincoln Northeast might be used to big wins, the 44-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Doneelah Washington was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Washington is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Serena Heeren, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Buena Vista's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Da'shia Evans, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Buena Vista struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lincoln Northeast racked up 19 assists.
The win was the third in a row for Lincoln Northeast, bringing their record for this year to 16-5. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.7 points. As for Buena Vista, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln Northeast will challenge Benson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Benson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Buena Vista, they will head out on the road to take on Omaha North at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Omaha North is on a three-game streak of home losses, Buena Vista a 19-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
