Baseball Recap: Mt. Gilead Takes a Loss

Mt. Gilead lost against Fredericktown back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Indians came up short against the Freddies, falling 13-4.

Hayden Somerlot made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Young, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Mt. Gilead's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Fredericktown, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Gilead will welcome Crestline at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Fredericktown, they will challenge Columbus Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
