Baseball Recap: Hopewell Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Mecklenburg on Friday, Hopewell came back down to earth. The Titans fell just short of the Hough Huskies by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. If the Titans were looking for revenge after losing 11-2 to the Huskies when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hopewell moved to 10-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Hough, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-7 record.

Coming up, Hopewell will take on Garinger at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.37 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hough, they will challenge Mallard Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mavericks have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
