Soccer Game Preview: New Brockton vs. Long

The New Brockton Gamecocks will challenge the Long Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

New Brockton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Dale County two weeks ago. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 1-0. New Brockton haven't had much luck with Dale County recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Long was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Carroll. Sammy Foote was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Long's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for New Brockton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

New Brockton couldn't quite get it done against Long when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can New Brockton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
