Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brookfield). They blew past the Weston Trojans, posting a 62-0 victory. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Trojans are ranked 91st) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brookfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Alger, who rushed for 90 yards and one score. Those 90 rushing yards gave Alger a new career-high. Matt Ackerly was another key rusher, rushing for 64 yards and one TD.

Brookfield didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Weston to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Elijah Kerr and Braeden Smith, who each logged one passes deflected. Brookfield wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 75%.

The victory was the third in a row for Brookfield, bringing their record up to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for Weston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Brookfield and Bethel will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on the 26th. The Bobcats will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Weston, they will head out to take on Joel Barlow at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th.
