Football Recap: Somerset Academy South Homestead Takes a Loss

Somerset Academy South Homestead extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They took a blow against the Westminster Academy Lions, falling 48-0. The Hurricanes lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in October of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 27-0 score last time.

As for Westminster Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-2. Considering they have won four games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cortland Brownfield produced another solid performance throwing for 251 yards and six TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt, and also punching in one score on the ground. Those six passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drew Barbar, who picked up 109 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Looking ahead, Somerset Academy South Homestead will face off against SmartEn Sports Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westminster Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
