The Concord Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Campolindo Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Concord is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Concord came up short against Las Lomas on Thursday, falling 10-4.
Monroe Allen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Danielah Breaux also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Campolindo got the win against Hercules on Monday by a conclusive 15-8. Considering the Cougars have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Paige Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clara Hwang, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Mintz, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Campolindo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win made it two in a row for Campolindo and bumps their season record up to 4-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Everything went Concord's way against Campolindo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Concord made off with a 14-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
