Basketball Game Preview: Lanier Christian Academy Lightning vs. Peachtree Academy Panthers

The Lanier Christian Academy Lightning will venture away from home to take on the Peachtree Academy Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, Lanier Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Horizon Christian Academy and lost 50-35. The Lightning have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Lanier Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Adelyn Gough, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds, and Emma Flowers, who posted ten points. The dominant performance gave Gough a new career-high in boards.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Peachtree Academy took on Trinity Christian School of Griffin on Tuesday. Peachtree Academy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 27-26 to Trinity Christian School of Griffin.

Lanier Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Peachtree Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Lanier Christian Academy against Peachtree Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 74-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lanier Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
