D'Angelo Russell transferring from Louisville Central to Montverde Academy.
De'Angelo Russell is transferring from Central (Louisville, Ky.) to
Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), according to Jody Demling of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
Rick Bolus of High Potential Basketball Recruiting had ranked the 6-foot-4 Russell as No. 1 in a very talented Kentucky sophomore class.
Bolus told MaxPreps, "I am surprised he left. He's very athletic. He started on the varsity as a freshman and was their best player. He averaged in double figures. He's both a shooter and scorer.."
He already has had scholarship offers from Louisville, Indiana, Xavier and Purdue.
His father, Antonio Russell, told Demling that academics also figured prominently in the move.
