Baseball Recap: Questa Wins Going Away Against Centennial

Questa won the last time they faced Centennial and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wildcats blew past the Rams 21-1. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly 20 runs.

Carlos Ortega and Ricardo Leon Jr. made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Ortega pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Leon Jr. pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ortega is becoming a predictor of Questa's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). At the plate, Ortega scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Leon Jr. scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3. Leon Jr. has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, Questa let James Garcia and Atreyu Segura run wild. Garcia scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Segura scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Garcia continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Adam Gordan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Questa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .607 or higher in three consecutive games.

Questa's record now sits at 2-5. As for Centennial, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.
