Basketball Recap: Porter Takes a Loss

Porter played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 55-34 to the Crosby Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 845th, while the Cougars are ranked 327th).

Crosby's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DELANCE HARRIS, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave HARRIS a new career-high. PHILLIP JACKSON was another key player, going 7 for 16 en route to 17 points and five boards.

Porter is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-17. As for Crosby, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.

Porter will square off against West Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crosby, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Crosby Cougars face off against the Splendora Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Splendora has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Crosby will come in with three straight victories.
