The Holy Ghost Prep Firebirds will venture away from home to challenge the Neumann-Goretti Saints at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Thursday, Holy Ghost Prep didn't have quite enough to beat Archbishop Wood and fell 2-1. The Firebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bam McNabb was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over eight innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Holy Ghost Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Baker, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Archbishop Ryan hit Neumann-Goretti with a six-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Saints fell just short of the Raiders and Ragdolls by a score of 9-8.
Johnluca LaSpada was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Neumann-Goretti is 4-2 when LaSpada allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise.
At the plate, Dylan Lenhart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Nick DiGiacomo, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Neumann-Goretti's loss dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for Holy Ghost Prep, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Holy Ghost Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Neumann-Goretti struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Holy Ghost Prep skirted past Neumann-Goretti 5-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
