Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for New Roads

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but New Roads had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Santa Ana Saints. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Matthew Linares made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for New Roads: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 10-11 otherwise. Linares was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Sebastian Berumen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Donovan Eastwood was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

New Roads' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Santa Ana, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14-1.

As of now, neither New Roads nor the Saints have any future games scheduled.
