Baseball Game Preview: Florala Wildcats vs. Straughn Tigers

The Florala Wildcats will face off against the Straughn Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Florala will be strutting in after a victory while Straughn will be coming in after a loss.

Florala is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Laurel Hill a 19-0 shutout. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Hoboes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Florala got a massive performance out of Nathan Cook, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Cook a new career-high in RBI (two). Noah Bryan was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Florala always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurel Hill only posted an OBP of .308.

Meanwhile, Straughn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-3 to Andalusia.

Straughn saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saxby Radford, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Florala came out on top in a nail-biter against Straughn in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Does Florala have another victory up their sleeve, or will Straughn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
