Volleyball Recap: Shawnee Beats Springfield for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Shawnee waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Springfield Blue Devils.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-20, 25-6.

Shawnee was led to victory by Chelsea Burkholder and Sami Rettig. Burkholder had ten digs and four aces, while Rettig had five digs and one assist. Burkholder has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last 16 times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Shawnee was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive matchups.

Shawnee's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Springfield, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-22.

Looking ahead, Shawnee will take on Lima Senior in a tournament on Wednesday. Springfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
