Volleyball Game Preview: Lejeune Devilpups vs. East Carteret Mariners

Lejeune hasn't had much luck against East Carteret recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Devilpups will square off against the Mariners at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.

Lejeune took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Southside 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Devilpups in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now won three in a row.

While Lejeune might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Southside scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-21.

Meanwhile, East Carteret made easy work of Jones on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

One reason for the win was East Carteret's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16, 25-15.

Lejeune now has a winning record of 9-8. As for East Carteret, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Lejeune came out on top in a nail-biter against East Carteret when the teams last played on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Devilpups since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
