Football Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

After soaring to 37 points the game before, Centennial was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were dealt a 41-13 defeat at the hands of the Ennis Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 45-30 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

WENDERIUS JONES was nothing short of spectacular for Ennis: he rushed for 192 yards and four TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Those 192 rushing yards gave JONES a new career-high. Another player making a difference was CHRIS MARTINEZ, who threw for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes.

Centennial now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Ennis, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will square off against Fulshear at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ennis, they will face off against Kaufman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give Ennis their first taste of in-conference action this season.
