Basketball Recap: La Jolla Find Success

The third road matchup was the charm for La Jolla, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 68-51 win over the O'Farrell Charter Falcons on Wednesday. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

La Jolla had a senior duo take command as Leo Hawkinson went 8-for-16 en route to 23 points and three steals and Brody Sessa almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists. Hawkinson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conlan Rute, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

La Jolla was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Daniel King and Marcelo Cardenas certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. King posted 14 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Cardenas scored 19 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Rayyan Atmaja, who put up seven points.

La Jolla's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Looking ahead, La Jolla will look to defend their home court on Friday against Westview at 7:00 p.m. As for O'Farrell Charter, they have already played their next contest, a 71-28 win against Health Sciences on the 20th.
