Softball Recap: Christopher Has No Trouble Against Prospect

Christopher lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Prospect, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Cougars blew past the Panthers 11-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Katelyn Vega spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Christopher got a massive performance out of Jersey Paredes, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two triples gave Paredes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Wilson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

Christopher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in five consecutive games.

Christopher pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Prospect, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Christopher will challenge rival Piedmont Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.2, the Pirates 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Prospect is set to square off against their familiar foe Evergreen Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
