Softball Recap: Flathead Takes a Loss

Flathead extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Butte Bulldogs, falling 13-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves/Bravettes of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Flathead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Brandt, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Butte, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-10 record. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Butte's side, Brea Henderson looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Henderson a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Mattie Stepan was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Gracie Jonart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Butte beat Flathead by a score of 15-4 later that day.
