Soccer Game Preview: Granada vs. Dougherty Valley

The Granada Matadors will challenge the Dougherty Valley Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granada will be strutting in after a victory while Dougherty Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Granada gave up the first goal on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out California 3-2. The win continues a trend for Granada in their matchups with California: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Dougherty Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Livermore. While losing is never fun, Dougherty Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 701st, while Livermore are ranked 207th).

Humza Sultan and Nathan Alfa scored both of Dougherty Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Dougherty Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-8-1. As for Granada, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2-1.

Granada might still be hurting after the 5-2 defeat they got from Dougherty Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2025. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Matadors were down 4-0.
