Volleyball Recap: Johansen Takes a Loss

Johansen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Beyer Patriots, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

While Johansen was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Beyer's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-9, 25-15.

Jordan Sao Rodriguez had an outrageously good game for Beyer as he had eight aces and five assists. That's the most aces Sao Rodriguez has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cruz Hibbard, who had 11 assists and three aces.

Johansen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Beyer, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johansen will challenge Ceres at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Beyer, they are taking a road trip to challenge Escalon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
