The Osage City Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Silver Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Osage City's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
On Friday, Osage City took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-14 victory over St. Marys. The Indians have beaten the Bears the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.
Osage City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reed Silver, who threw for 136 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also picked up 41 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those three passing touchdowns gave Silver a new career-high. Quenten Stark did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 173 receiving yards.
Osage City's run defense was locked in: St. Marys could only muster one yards per carry. The team can thank Austin Lamb for the heroic effort on defense: he. Osage City didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.2.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Silver Lake took on Riley County on Friday. The Eagles blew past the Falcons, posting a 42-8 win.
Osage City better keep an eye on Bryson Burgos. He was instrumental in Silver Lake's win, rushing for 159 yards and two scores on only 13 carries. Burgos' longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Kipton Kruger, who threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes.
One reason for the win was Silver Lake's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Jayden Waterer was especially locked on to Riley County's QB and sacked him three times. Waterer also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Osage City, their record is now 6-0.
Osage City strolled past Silver Lake in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 35-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
