Basketball Game Preview: Long County Blue Tide vs. Veterans Warhawks

The Long County Blue Tide will be taking part in a tournament against the Veterans Warhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Veterans will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Long County extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Blue Tide blew past Jenkins 78-37. The Blue Tide have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Long County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamere Martin, who shot 57% from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points and three steals. Martin continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zyi'Air Holt, who went 9-for-12 to rack up 20 points and seven assists.

Long County was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Veterans strolled past Westside with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 69-55. The Warhawks haven't had any issues with the Seminoles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Long County's record now sits at 5-1. As for Veterans, their record is now 5-3.

Things could have been worse for Long County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-45 loss to Veterans when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Blue Tide avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
