Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Conestoga

Conestoga proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cardinal O'Hara Lions 10-8. The win was nothing new for the Pioneers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Henry Fuerst looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Kurt Tharnish was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. James Quici also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Conestoga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Conestoga's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Cardinal O'Hara, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Conestoga will take on Penncrest at 3:45 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Cardinal O'Hara, they will head out on the road to face off against Archbishop Ryan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders and Ragdolls have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
