Cedar Hill is 0-3 against Allen since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cedar Hill Longhorns will head out on the road to square off against the Allen Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Longhorns fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's season opener. They took their game on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 40-7 win over Midlothian. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Panthers are ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dayshun Reese was a one-man wrecking crew for Cedar Hill as he rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Cedric Mills was in the mix too, providing Cedar Hill with two receiving touchdowns touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cedar Hill was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 486 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midlothian only gained 173.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cedar Hill's defense and their six sacks. Leading the way was Jalen Brewster and his two. His also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making seven total tackles (6.0 for loss). Desman Manuel was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Allen took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They never let Midland Legacy onto the board and left with a 61-0 victory.

Brady Bricker had an outrageously good game as he threw for 272 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Hambric, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.

Cedar Hill ended up a good deal behind Allen when the teams last played back in September of 2021, losing 35-16. Thankfully for Cedar Hill, Jaylen Jenkins (who rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
