Softball Recap: Boulder Creek Comes Up Short

Boulder Creek entered their matchup against O'Connor on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Jaguars lost 8-0 to the Eagles. The game marked the first time this year in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Boulder Creek got a good showing from Avery Gurr, who pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Gurr has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Boulder Creek's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for O'Connor, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Boulder Creek and O'Connor should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. The Jaguars (ranked 12th) will meet Millennium (ranked 118th) at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, O'Connor will square off against Liberty at 3:45 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (4 vs. 63).
