Basketball Recap: Aquinas Academy Extends Winning Streak to Three

Aquinas Academy won the last time they faced Providence Christian Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Aquinas Academy Crusaders put the hurt on the Providence Christian Academy Griffins with a sharp 54-34 victory. The Crusaders pushed the score to 41-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Griffins cut but never quite recovered from.

When it comes to explaining why Providence Christian Academy lost, don't look at Bryce Unruh. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Unruh's morning made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jason Duncan also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

The win (which was Aquinas Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 8-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Providence Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.

Aquinas Academy will head out to square off against Great Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
