Basketball Recap: Landon Mcnamara's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Norfolk Christian over Hampton Christian Academy

Norfolk Christian was the 66-59 winner over Hampton Christian Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ambassadors took a 74-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Friday.

Several Ambassadors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Mcnamara, who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Hines, who had 11 points along with seven assists and six boards.

Hampton Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Justice Powell led the charge by shooting 53% from the field on his way to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. With that strong performance, Powell is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. Another player making a difference was Marcus Ruff, who went 5-for-10 en route to 20 points.

Norfolk Christian now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Hampton Christian Academy, their record now sits at 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norfolk Christian will square off against Veritas Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hampton Christian Academy, they will take on StoneBridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
