Fredericksburg Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Oakcrest a 25-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won seven in a row.
Rylie Johnson and Scarlett Whittaker made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Johnson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Whittaker struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Johnson scored five runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4, while Whittaker got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Johnson also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Haylie Johnson was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Becca Medina, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Fredericksburg Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Westmoreland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Northumberland. One positive for the Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Aven Clarke made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Teagan Clarke was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Fredericksburg Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Westmoreland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Fredericksburg Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game.
