Pottsville has gone a perfect 10-0 against North Schuylkill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide will venture away from home to square off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Pottsville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Pottsville got the win against Pine Grove by a conclusive 3-0.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Pottsville was: they took every set by at least 15 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-9, 25-10.
Pottsville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rhyan Brenna led the charge by getting ten kills, nine digs, and four blocks. That's the most blocks Brenna has posted over her last seven matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Yost, who had 25 assists and eight digs.
Pottsville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, North Schuylkill hadn't done well against Mahanoy Area recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. The Spartans skirted past the Golden Bears 3-2.
North Schuylkill was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (108-92), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 12-25, 13-25, 17-15.
North Schuylkill's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Pottsville, their record now sits at 12-5.
Everything went Pottsville's way against North Schuylkill in their previous matchup back in September, as Pottsville made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crimson Tide since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
